Title: Finite Simple 3′-Groups are Cyclic or Suzuki Groups
Abstract: It is a well known unpublished result of Thompson that all finite simple 3′-groups are cyclic of prime order or Suzuki groups. In the seventies Glauberman showed that groups with order divisible by 2 but not by 3 are groups with a strongly closed abelian 2-subgroup which are classified by Goldschmidt in 1974. It is possible to prove the result of Thompson without using Goldschmidt's classification in its full strength and ideas of Stellmacher instead of Glauberman's.
