Nikolaus Conference 2008

What?

The Nikolaus conference is an annual meeting at Lehrstuhl D für Mathematik (RWTH Aachen). The focus is on group and representation theory, with an emphasis on computational aspects. We particularly encourage people to attend who have recently finished a diploma- or phd-thesis in this area.

When?

This year the talks are scheduled from

        Friday, December 5, 2008, about 2pm to

        Saturday, December 6, 2008, about 6pm.

Participants are also welcome to join the traditional Research Cambridge Style sessions on Friday and Saturday evening in a nearby restaurant and pub (many participants will stay until Sunday morning).

All talks on a Nikolaus conference are scheduled for 20 minutes. We hope that the breaks between the talks and the "evening sessions" leave enough time for further discussions.

Where?

The meeting point and place for discussions during the breaks is at Lehrstuhl D für Mathematik, RWTH Aachen. See here for a map. The Lehrstuhl D is on the second floor (German counting). The talks will be in the Hauptgebäude across the street.

Registration

If you would like to come, please fill this this registration form. Alternatively, you can write an email containing the same information to me.

Please, consider to offer a talk with your registration by telling me a title (and possibly an abstract).

We will help you to find accomodation for the days of the meeting. This year we were able to pre-reserve rooms in the renovated RWTH guesthouse (including a few double rooms which can be shared). (Note: booked out by now.) If these rooms are not sufficient we will also look for hotel rooms. Note that hotels in Aachen are very busy in December because of the popular Christmas market, they only accept reservations for specific persons. Therefore, please, don't wait until the last moment with your registration.

Who?

Here is the list of participants which I will update regularly.
