Title: Finite Reductive Groups and their Complex Group Algebras

Abstract:

An important question in representation theory of finite groups is the extent to which the complex group algebra of a finite group determines the group or some of its properties. It has been recently shown that quasi-simple groups are determined uniquely up to isomorphism by the structure of their complex group algebras. In this talk, I will survey our recent project on extending this result to almost simple groups of Lie type, emphasizing on projective general linear and unitary groups of arbitrary large rank (joint work with A. Iranmanesh and F. Shafiei).
