Title: On a Lower Bound for the Number of Brauer Characters
Abstract:
We report on joint work with G. Navarro and P. Tiep showing that the number of conjugacy classes of a finite group consisting of elements of odd order is larger than or equal to that number for the normaliser of a Sylow 2-subgroup. This was predicted by the Alperin Weight Conjecture.
