Title: Exotic and Block-Exotic Fusion Systems

Abstract:

One of the main problems in the theory of fusion systems is the conjecture whether a fusion system arises in the form of a finite group if and only if it arises in the form of a p-block of a finite group. After discussing some applications, we present some advances tackling this conjecture. We introduce classes of fusion systems for which we know it holds true and also discuss the status for fusion systems of blocks of finite simple groups.
