The Aim

The Nikolaus conference is an annual meeting at Lehrstuhl D für Mathematik (RWTH Aachen). The main aim is to bring together people who have recently finished a thesis on a topic in group or representation theory and some established people in this area. Particularly welcome are reports on projects with a computational aspect.

The dates

The talks will be scheduled from

Friday, December 11, 2015, about 2pm to Saturday, December 12, 2015, about 6pm.

Each talk will be at most 20 minutes.

There will be coffee breaks and "evening sessions" to provide time for further discussions outside the talks.

After the talks on Saturday we will have the traditional Research Cambridge Style session in a nearby restaurant and pub. For this reason many participants will stay until Sunday morning.

The location

All talks and the coffee breaks will be in Pontdriesch 14/16. The talks are in the lecture hall "SeMath" in the ground floor, and Lehrstuhl D is in the first floor (German counting).

The registration

If you intend to come, please, help the organizers by filling this registration form.

During registration you can also offer to give a talk! Just tell me a title (and possibly provide an abstract).

The accomodation

We had some rooms available in the RWTH guesthouse. But the guesthouse is now fully booked.

Therefore, we have to ask you to book accommodation yourself. This is fairly easy, for example via an online booking site like (-> Tourismus -> Hotels) or

Note that in December there is a very popular Christmas market in Aachen, and many visitors also stay overnight. So, do not wait too long with booking accommodation, the later the more difficult will it be to find a room for a reasonable price.
