Title: An Elementary Characterisation of Special Nilpotent Orbits
Abstract:
Lusztig introduced the concept of "special" nilpotent orbits (or unipotent classes), based on the Springer correspondence and the definition of "special" characters of Weyl groups. We propose a new, elementary definition in terms of an integrality condition; the proof heavily relies on various uses of computational algebra.
