Title: On the Modular Representation Theory of Finite Groups with Semi-Dihedral Sylow 2-Subgroups

Abstract:

Finite groups with semi-dihedral Sylow 2-subgroups provide us with particularly interesting/exotic examples in modular representation theory because they are part of the few families of finite groups with tame representation type (i.e., over a field of characteristic 2). In this talk, we report on two problems in the modular representation theory of such groups which can be solved using their classification modulo the largest normal 2'-subgroup.

This is joint work with Shigeo Koshitani and Benjamin Sambale.
