Title: An Explicit Description of the Action of Automorphisms on Irreducible Characters of Quasi-Simple Groups of Type A

Abstract:

An important question in (ordinary) representation theory of finite reductive groups is to determine the action of automorphisms of a quasi-simple group on the set of its complex irreducible characters. For groups of type A, this was done by Cabanes and Späth in 2017 as an step in verifying the inductive McKay conditions for the latter groups. In this talk, we will give a more convenient and explicit description of this action for groups of type A, and then discuss some applications of this result in further problems such as the Huppert conjecture.
